UrBC, Magnitogorsk, October 11, 2019. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) Water Supply Department got founded 88 years ago this week, MMK’s Information & PR Department reports.
The plant’s single water supply service got introduced on the basis of the specialized company VodoKanalStroy on October 10, 1931. This was the day the department’s history began.
‘The key task one of MMK’s vital power facilities is in charge of is ensuring uninterrupted and accident-free water supply/disposal for all of the plant’s structural divisions. The department comprises 30 pumping stations, 6 filtering facilities, water recirculation units, hydraulic appliances, drinking and manufacturing water conduits, industrial sewage system, and waste piping infrastructure. The pipelines’ total length comes to some 600 km,’ the company says.
Workers from the Water Supply Department contribute to the construction and launch of new industrial facilities at MMK as well as to reconstruction projects. For one, the company is currently reconstructing one of the water recirculation systems and the laminar cooling system for hot-roll Mill 2500 at Sheet-Rolling Department 4 and getting a number of new water supply facilities commissioned at the plant.
‘MMK had 1,000 meters of pipelines replaced in 2018 and 2019 to ensure better drinking water supply. Last year, we also launched our environmental project on chill tank modifications, which resulted in MMK’s production site switching to a recirculation system,’ the company says.
