7 June 2017 (13:17)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, June 7, 2017. Russia’s air carriers incurred some 10bn RUR in losses last year (compared with 8.5bn RUR one year previously), Kommersant refers to President of the Russian Air Transport Operators Assotiation Vladimir Tasun as stating.

Most of the losses still have to do with the domestic flights segment (33bn RUR in 2016 against 44.9bn RUR in 2015). The profit made through international flights couldn’t offset the losses in the domestic flights segment as it only amounted to 23bn RUR (down 37% on the year 2015).

At the same time, the overall number of domestic flights rose by 7.3% and that of international flights dropped by 18.6%. The air carriers’ revenues came to around 1trillion RUR in 2016.
