Sverdlovsk Region: Locals spend under 50,000 RUR on winter break

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, October 7, 2015. The economically priced trips costing under 50,000 RUR will remain the most popular offers on Sverdlovsk Region’s travel market in the winter of 2015/2016, Executive Director of Ural Tourism Association Mikhail Maltsev said at a press conference.

‘We are actually talking about the winter school break rather than New Year trips here. Such package tours in the under-50,000 RUR price range are sure to be popular and get sold out by late or even mid-October. Most of these tours are to Russian resorts, primarily Sochi, to which city a direct flight is available from Yekaterinburg. Quite expensive trips such as the ones to Langkawi and Borneo and possibly Latin America (with departure from Dubai and Istanbul) will enjoy demand as well,’ he said.

Maltsev feels it is the medium price range ski resort travel that will suffer the most as a result of fewer flights now available from Yekaterinburg.

‘We used to have direct flights from Yekaterinburg to resorts in Bulgaria, Turkey, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Andorra, but this is not the case any more. The only direct flights available are to Munich, from where some travelers head for the ski resorts in Austria, and Sochi. As for Munich, the flight alone will cost over 75,000 RUR, whereas a flight to Sochi will only cost 25,000 RUR,’ he said.
