October 16, 2014. Uralvagonzavod Corporation presented the logo for the Russian Classic Supreme Hockey League’s open-air championship match in Nizhniy Tagil.

According to the corporation’s press service, the city’s most large-scale event is going to take place at the corporation’s head plant’s stadium during the League’s Season 5. Sputnik, the local team, and Yuzhniy Ural from Orsk are to compete in the game. The event will be aired by the TV channel Russia 2.

The first two Russian Classic games were hosted by Krasnoyarsk and Chelyabinsk. Five different cities aspired to host the Russian Classic championship in the season of 2014/2015, says the League’s Managing Director German Skoropupov.

‘Orsk, Perm, and some other cities were on our candidate list, yet the proactive Nizhniy Tagil was selected in the end. Uralvagonzavod is a tank-manufacturing enterprise, and since the legendary T34 that helped us win the Great Patriotic War is actually the symbol of Nizhniy Tagil, it made perfect sense to decide on this particular city: after all, the entire country will be celebrating the 70th Victory Day in 2015,’ he said.

Uralvagonzavod Corporation’s Director-General Oleg Sienko said the ad hoc coordinating committee will do its best.
