August 8, 2014. Ural Federal University was given the 11th position in the rating of best Russian colleges to get a degree in Economics. The rating was created by Expert Rating Agency. The top three positions were awarded to Moscow-based colleges: Moscow State University, N.E. Bauman Moscow State Technical University, and Moscow Physicotechnical Institute.

UFU was also given the 10th position in the rating of fifty Russian colleges that offer degrees in engineering disciplines, natural sciences, and precise sciences.

‘These impressive positions in the ratings prove that we are moving in the right direction and pay a lot of attention to the development of engineering and technical disciplines, natural sciences, and managerial disciplines. To ensure this development, we invest in fitting university labs with up-to-date equipment, in hiring promising young researchers from abroad, and in training our own faculty members,’ says Rector Viktor Koksharov.

The rating was based on the results of large-scale surveys conducted by the agency in 2012-2014. Over 15,000 estimates by respondents from 78 parts of Russia were obtained. Four groups of respondents took part in an online voting procedure: faculty, members of scientific communities, employers, and students and graduates. The surveyed gave their assessment of the quality of education, the demand the graduates of a particular college enjoy with employers, and the quality of scientific research a college does.
