July 16, 2014. In order to establish and fortify its cooperation with the companies based in China, one of the world's largest economies, the management of Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) decided to set up a company representation in Shanghai, MMK reports.
The representation will be in charge of liaising with the company's partners and contractors in China, of finding new suppliers (including through MMK e-trading floor), and of monitoring the Chinese market in order to purchase machines, raw stuffs, and materials for the enterprise's needs.
Former Commercial Director of MMK Metalurji (MMK Group's Turkish asset) Sergey Kolesnichenko was appointed MMK General Representative in the People's Republic of China.
MMK Deputy Director-General for Commerce Vitaliy Bakhmetiev is going to supervise the Shanghai office performance from the company's headquarters in Magnitogorsk.
'China is currently a major producer of industrial equipment, and the Chinese government is quite supportive towards industrial development. The Chinese market is a very interesting one for us, and we intend to develop mutually beneficial cooperation with the Chinese enterprises that have a lot of potential in meeting the metallurgical enterprises' needs in terms of raw stuffs, materials, and machines,' says MMK DG Pavel Shilyaev.
