KBTM makes more goods for Russian Railways

June 4, 2014. KBTM (a member enterprise of Uralvagonzavod Corporation) got a compliance certificate for its coupler casting. This means the company is now expanding the range of products it makes for Russian Railways, the corporation's press service reports.
'The coupler is an automated hookup mechanism that hitches railway carriages together without (or almost without) human involvement. It is most often used for railway carriages and locos. The coupler casting is meant for sending the draft force impulse onto the draft mechanism and for placing inside the casting a mechanism for coupling and decoupling of carriages,' the company says.
Prior to getting this certificate, KBTM underwent all the necessary qualification and certification procedures and the casting was tested for strength, compliance with the drawings and with the GOSTs and other standards. The coupler casting is manufactured at the company's foundry shop from 20 GL carbonated steel.
KBTM's other goods are also being certified at the moment, namely, the automatic coupler and stop shoulders and other parts. The company's Director-General Igor Lobov says getting these goods certified will allow KBTM to expand its sales market for the foundry department produce even more and to find new customers.
