May 23, 2014. A new multi-purpose vehicle TMV-2 was presented at Uraltransmash (a member enterprise of Uralvagonzavod Corporation). Uralvagonzavod's innovative development is meant for transfer of railway carriages on the premises of industrial enterprises and repair depots. This new module is a modern alternative to the older diesel-locomotive that can be used for delivering hydroficated tools and equipment for prompt repairs of railways and crossings and for rescue operations, Uralvagonzavod Corporation's press service reports.
TMV-2 is fitted with a 165-horsepower diesel engine, its force exerted rating is between 20 and 32 kN, its peak velocity on wheels is 42 km per hour, its maximum limit speed on railways is 15 km per hour, its minimum diameter of the turning radius on wheels (with no brakes employed) is 16 meters, the minimum horizontal curve radius on railways is 30 meters, its track gage on wheels is 1,590mm (+/- 20mm), its track gage on railways is 1,520mm.
When presenting the new module to the visitors, Leonid Zelepukhin, Deputy Director for Engineering Development and Technologies of ChTZ-Uraltrac (a member enterprise of Uralvagonzavod Corporation) pointed out the new machine's competitive advantages such as the motive force that makes it possible to push, shift, and stop up to 30 empty railway carriages or up to 25 empty tanks. The vehicle has outstanding technical properties yet it is considerably less expenise than a shunter. Besides, savings can be made because of fuel efficiency and low maintenance.
