Ukraine International Airlines closes down Yekaterinburg-Kyiv flight

May 14, 2014. Ukraine International Airlines (MAU) will stop operating its direct Yekaterinburg-Kyiv flight on May 14, 2014.
‘The direct flight from Yekaterinburg to Kyiv has been available until today. Starting tomorrow, the flight will only be operated with a stopover in Moscow, it won’t be a direct flight any longer. A number of seats will be reserved for these passengers by a partner air carrier. This is done for commercial reasons, the airline told UrBC.
MAU is also closing down direct scheduled flights from Novosibirsk to Kyiv.
Ukraine International Airlines launched direct flights from Yekaterinburg to Kyiv on April 1, 2013. In Mid-March 2014, the airline announced that the flights would be operated less often. The air carrier explained that this had to do with the dropping demand for Kyiv-bound flights, which, as the company believes, had been brought about by the negative publicity created around Ukraine by the Russian media. MAU had originally intended to operate their direct Yekaterinburg-Kyiv flight in the summer.
