Yekaterinburg Municipal Duma votes for hosting World Cup 2018

September 25, 2013. Yekaterinburg Municipal Duma deputies voted at today’s session to support the project on coordinating and hosting the World Football Championship 2018 in the capital of the Mid-Urals, Yekaterinburg Council reports.
In their letter, the deputies denied allegations that Yekaterinburg gave up the idea of hosting World Cup 2018.
‘Yekaterinburg has come a long and complicated way to win the right to host the games here, enormous amount of work was done to modernize the infrastructure; the decision was made, and a number of special projects in preparation for the championship are being implemented now,’ the letter says.
The Duma deputies promised to use their authority to promote Yekaterinburg’s preparations for hosting the Mundial.
