April 8, 2013. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) considerably expanded the volume of shipments its makes to the Russian ship- and bridge-building enterprises.
Last year, the output of Mill 5000 produce MMK shipped to the bridge-building and ship-building customers rose by over two and three times, respectively, on the previous year. All in all, MMK’s metal goods shipments on the domestic bridge-building market amounted to 67,000 tons in 2012, while the shipments of goods to the ship-builders reached 75,000 tons, the enterprise reports.
For one, 7,000 tons of rolled sheets with regular and enhanced strength grade (GOST R 52927-2008) were delivered onto Vyborg Shipbuilding Plant (a member of United Shipbuilding Corporation) last year. This rolled stock will be primarily used for building an ice-breaker for Rosmorport Federal State Unitary Enterprise. At the moment, Vyborg Shipbuilding Plant is one of MMK’s largest ship-building customers.
