ChTZ Combat Vehicles to Join V-Day Parade

3 April 2013 (09:16)

April 3, 2013. Vehicles manufactured by Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant (ChTZ) are going to take part in the Victory Day Parade in Revolution Square for the 9th time this year. The caterpillar antiquities were restored at the plant and debuted during the 2005 V-day Parade, Uralvagonzavod Scientific & Production Corporation’s press service reports.

The show of the historic samples of combat vehicles will open with the legendary T-34. It was exactly the ChTZ-produced T-34 tank that was used by the 63 Chelyabinsk Brigade, a part of the Ural Voluntary Tank Corps that joined its first battle near Orel and fought through to Berlin and Prague. The brigade’s 70th anniversary will be celebrated this year. It so happened that it was precisely on May 9, 1943 that Chelyabinsk residents saw the volunteers off to the front. A solemn gathering was organized in the square next to the post office then; the volunteers were presented with the Mandate from the South-Ural Workers. Brigadier Alexandra Sadikova was among the speakers on that day; today, she is the President of Uralochka Club.

For these reasons, this year’s display of vehicles from the plant’s museum is a tribute to the soldiers from the Ural Voluntary Tank Corps – there were quite a few plant workers among them – and to the Tankgrad employees who manufactured the desperately needed tanks and self-operated artillery vehicles.
