April 3, 2013. ‘Quite a few Russians are true patriots of their native towns and are absolutely positive that their city is the best in the country. It is now possible to find out whether this is true with the help of the Kommersant. Sekret Firmy magazine that came up with a rating of Russia’s Top100 Best Cities,’ SKB-Bank says.

The rating picked the candidates out of cities with population of over 100,000 people that provided the magazine with data on their municipal budget. In order to indentify the best city, analysts used 13 criteria grouped around five different indices: the financial index, the human capital index, the social infrastructure index, and the capital construction, production, and entrepreneurial activity index. So Kaliningrad was rated as Russia’s best city, Yekaterinburg ‘won the silver medal’, and Belgorod was in the third place. Also, last year’s No.1 Krasnodar, as well as Kazan, Yaroslavl, Khimki, Novosibirsk, Tyumen, and Domodedovo made it to the top ten.

In fact, nine cities located in Ural Federal District were featured among the best 100 cities in Russia. These are: Yekaterinburg, Tyumen, Chelyabinsk, Pervouralsk, Surgut, Nizhniy Tagil, Magnitogorsk, Nizhnevartovsk, and Novy Urengoy. This means SKB-Bank is now doing business in most of Russia’s best cities!
