4 September 2012 (10:38)
The number of hunger-strikers at AMUR Car Factory has gone up to 100 people, the Novouralsk-based factory’s former worker Irina Zaprudina told UrBC.
The ‘second wave’ of hunger-strikers started at AMUR today. The ‘first wave’ involved 16 people who went on a public hunger-strike. About thirty people were on hunger-strike at home. As was expected, those who went on hunger-strike in public were paid all the money that was their due. According to the former employees, the debt came to 1.5m RUR, according to some other resources, the figure came to as much as over 30m RUR.
‘The number of hunger-strikers is ever-increasing. We cannot determine the exact number yet. As of yesterday, the number of people who wanted to take part in the strike was 78-79 people. Today, 22 to 24 people joined them, too,’ Zaprudina added.
‘Unfortunately, we couldn’t find a room that would be big enough for all the workers. 24 people entered the political party’s office today. The rest are on hunger-strike at home. According to our data, every worker is owed between 30,000 and 100,000 RUR by the plant’s management,’ she said.
‘No member of the management team and no representatives of the authorities tried to contact us today,’ Zaprudina added.
