Roscomnadzor to Check Biglion and KupiKupon for Personal Data Protection

Russia’s Roscomnadzor asked the companies that deal in offering discount services online to provide reports on how they ensure personal data protection, the agency’s website states.
As the media carried a lot of announcements recently on how the information databases with personal data of discount services and online shops customers are available for sale (according to a number of online ads), Roscomnadzor decided it was necessary to gain some control over the situation.
The agency, which is an authorized body for the protection of subjects’ personal details, sent queries to eight companies offering discount services online, asking them to provide information on what measures are taken to ensure the confidentiality and security of the customers’ personal data.
The replies will be examined by experts to determine whether they meet the current legal requirements for personal data protection.
