Expert RA: Reserve has weak local market position
10 June 2011 (09:50)
The rating agency Expert RA rated Reserve Bank’s business solvency at B+, that is, Sufficient Business Solvency level.
The agency reports that the bank’s rating was supported by the good instant and current liquidity indicators, a reasonably high level of the lending portfolio backup, and an impressive diversification of the business lending portfolio in terms of the borrowing companies’ activities. Then, the bank’s business solvency is also facilitated by the great level of off-balance debt liabilities backup: these are covered for by the highly liquid assets; besides, the bank only took some insignificant currency risks.
The bank tends to have a weak local market position and only a limited customer base as far as lending to businesses goes. The other negative factors affecting the rating are the insufficient equilibrium between the assets and the liabilities in the long term, a reserve policy that does not look conservative enough, and a relatively low level of own funds’ sufficiency,’ the agency states.
