UrBC, Yekaterinburg, December 26, 2019. ChelPipe Group supplied more than 150,000,000 kg of pipelines for the construction of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India Pipeline (TAPI) by order of the state-owned concern TurkmenGaz. According to ChelPipe Group’s press service, the pipes with corrosion-resistant outer coating (diameter: 1,422 mm; steel grade: X70) are meant for the construction of the line section of the pipeline in Turkmenistan. ChelPipe Group was the only Russian company out of ninety-four applicants to have passed every stage of the qualifications-based selection procedure and to have suggested the best terms of delivery. ‘Additionally, working on this project also helped to complete a sophisticated transaction involving islamic banking mechanisms and an acknowledgement of obligation to pay for more than $200m worth of produce that was coordinated by Sberbank, Islamic Development Bank, and the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan,’ the Group’s press service says.
