UrBC, Yekaterinburg, September 11, 2017. 306,100 m2 of new housing got commissioned in Yekaterinburg in the first half of the year, which was 24.8% less than one year earlier, Yekaterinburg Council’s monitoring results indicate. This figure includes 32,000 m2 of private housing (down 37.6% on one year earlier). 42.9% of all of Sverdlovsk Region’s new apartment buildings were put up and commissioned in Yekaterinburg. Still, Yekaterinburg only came fourth in the national rating, outstripped by Rostov-on-Don, Novosibirsk, and Kazan. One year earlier, Yekaterinburg was Russia’s No 3. On average, 1 m2 of new housing (that is, apartment buildings and not private houses) cost 42,550 RUR to put up in January-June 2017; the average price of 1 m2 of housing on Yekaterinburg existing home market was 1.5 times greater (66,295 RUR).
