NLMK-Sort’s output goes down 3.8%

28.10.2010
The enterprises of OOO NLMK-Sort (Novolipetsk Iron & Steel Works (NLMK) bar and profile division) sold 1.2 million tons of metal goods in January-September 2010, which was 3.8% less than in the nine months of 2009.

NLMK-Sort sold 966,000 tons of metal goods on the domestic market; this figure exceeded that for a year earlier by 16%. These sales included 758,000 tons of reinforcing bars (which was 11% better than a year earlier), 41,000 tons of rolled wire (which was 25% better than a year earlier), and 142,000 tons of metalware (which was 19% better than a year earlier). All in all, the domestic sales made up 83% of all consumer shipments made by NLMK-Sort over the given time period.

Reinforcing bars, rolled wire, and low-carbon metalware comprised, respectively, 20%, 16%, and 21% of the company’s total home market sales.

The company says a decrease in the gross sales figures has to do with the order portfolio adjustments and switching to the home market rather than the international one. As for a rise in the amount of domestic sales, this was brought about by the restored demand on the part of the Russian building industry.
