VIM AVIA to operate flights from Yekaterinburg until July 28, 2008

25.07.2008
VIM AVIA will keep operating flights from Yekaterinburg until July 28, 2008. The carrier and Koltsovo airport of Yekaterinburg managed to reach an agreement on the restructuring of the airline’s debt. At the moment, VIM AVIA owes the airport over 12 million RUR for ground servicing.

Koltsovo airport of Yekaterinburg has already laid a claim against VIM AVIA and Domodedovo Airlines related to the money the carriers are reported to owe the airport for ground maintenance of their aircraft. The claim is to be dealt with by Sverdlovsk Region Court of Arbitration.

‘If this company fails to pay off its debts promptly, the flights won’t be serviced beginning from July 24, 2008. Passengers who bought a ticket for VIM AVIA’s flights will be able to rebook their tickets and use some other carriers,’ the airport’s press officer reported.

In the meantime, despite the apparent settlement of the conflict, VIM AVIA is rumored to stop operating flights from Yekaterinburg on July 29, 2008. Passengers who’ve bought tickets for this and later dates will be flown by Ural Airlines without having to make any extra payments. The flight’s low profitability is believed to be the reason for canceling the flight.
