Children in Yekaterinburg’s Foster Homes Learn To Blog

28.08.2018
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, August 28, 2018. A project to help children in and recently out of Yekaterinburg’s foster homes and live-in schools to learn to blog professionally is about to begin: this is part of the Ural Bank for Reconstruction & Development’s Children Believe in Miracles Charity Program, the bank’s press service reports.

Experienced teachers, many of whom are successful bloggers themselves, will help the aspiring blog writers to improve their knowledge of the Internet. Experts from a local children’s programming school will offer a lecture and a workshop on blogging. Children in foster care from two live-in schools will get guidance on the basic blogosphere-related issues, on the specific features of the most popular social networks, and on the ways to promote their personal blogs/media accounts. The practical tasks will involve writing a script for a video clip, learning the basics of clip-making (with camera work, sound, and lighting effects), and going through the entire process of moviemaking with the help of special film editing software.

‘Based on the Russian Public Opinion Research Center’s findings, young people make up 91% of social network users, and their goals are largely recreational. Over 70% of these users are curious about blogging. We are happy to help these young adults reveal their blogging potential and teach them about the basics of online communication within the framework of our Children Believe in Miracles Program. The workshop is expected to broaden their outlook and acquire some useful blogging expertise that these teens can use later on,’ says the bank’s PR Director Elena Yurina.

So far, the program has already been offered to hundreds of foster-care children from Perm Territory, Tyumen Region, Sverdlovsk Region, and Chelyabinsk Region.
