Yekaterinburg: MegaFon’s Traffic Up 1.5 Times Due to Snowfall

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, April 25, 2018. MegaFon Ural’s mobile traffic increased by 1.5 times against the usual due to a heavy snowfall, the company press service reports.

‘While a drastic change in the weather is a big thing for the locals, this is ‘business as usual’ for our infrastructure engineers: MegaFon’s connection has proved reliable in numerous heavy snowfalls, spring floods, and summer heat waves before. You can safely expect to stay connected, be able to call a rescue team, or keep sending pictures of the surroundings when it’s anywhere between fifty degrees centigrade above or forty degrees below zero outside,’ the press service says.

‘A snowfall is by no means a predictable weather phenomenon in the Urals. This may be a big inconvenience for the locals, especially for the drivers, but this is not an emergency for our engineers. The network is always ready to withstand temperature fluctuations, and there is no need for any special measures or for snow clean-up: our Internet connection relies on ‘universal buses’ that remain functional in any weather conditions,’ says MegaFon Ural’s Technical Director Anton Scherbakov.
