EVRAZ KGOK Opens Repair Depot

24.10.2017
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, October 24, 2017. EVRAZ Holding’s Kachkanar Ore Mining & Processing Enterprise (KGOK) launched a special loco unit repair site at its Repair Depot 2, EVRAZ Holding Ural reports.

EVRAZ’s new business system now makes it possible to cut back on the time and money needed for vehicle repair.

‘The depot now has several assembly sites, each designed for a certain type of locomotive units. Repairs are all done on a case-by-case basis and take place in several sections of the depot at a time. This ensures more efficient staff performance, better working conditions, and faster and better quality repairs,’ the company says.

The depot also has sites designated for assembly or dismantling of tractors, testing traction motors and low-power electric engines, and repairing bearing boxes and speed-reduction gear. There is also a special welding site, fitted with new gas-suction units.

Additionally, the inspection pits got renovated, shelves were provided for the spare parts of locos, and visual aids were added to illustrate the various stages of the repair process. The depot now has new lighting fixtures, safe removal slopes, new electric and pneumatic equipment, and small-scale mechanization appliances.

The company intends to introduce a new repair system at its Loco Repair Depot 1 as well.
