MegaFon Looks Into Subscribers’ Travel Patterns

7.08.2017
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, August 7, 2017. The telecommunications provider MegaFon’s subscribers went to 161 different countries this summer, the company press service reports.

According to MegaFon’s analysts, men tend to head for more exotic locations, while women seem to prefer pilgrimage routes.

‘The number of those who went abroad in May, June, and July rose by 40% compared with last summer. Brazil, Azerbaijan, and Iran proved ‘male-dominated’, as 70% of travelers were men. Women go to Israel, Jordan, Egypt, and Iceland, with the proportion of female travelers at 60%,’ they say.

‘Our customers are very active international traffic users. The number of symbols they used in their text messages is enough to write sixty copies of Shantaram. Their overall Internet traffic amounted to nearly 2,000 Gb. This is enough to download 700,000 holiday-mood songs,’ says MegaFon Ural’s Mass Market Development Director Sergey Alferov.

Kazakhstan, Turkey, Abkhazia, Belarus, Cyprus, Greece, and Spain are this summer’s bestsellers. On the other hand, some people also go to very remote places like Congo, Benin, Namibia, Gabon, Cabo Verde, Swaziland, Brunei, Togo, Ethiopia, and Chad.
