TMK’s Scrap Metal Supply Up 10.6%

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, May 22, 2017. Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK) member enterprise TMK Chermet exceeded the target scrap ferrous metal supply figures for the first quarter of 2017 by 26% and delivered 494,000,000 kg of scrap metal onto the company’s plants, TMK press service reports.

‘The company keeps relying more heavily on its own scrap metal supplies: deliveries rose by 10.6% against the first quarter of 2016 and amounted to over 160,500,000 kg. A stable increase in the amount of scrap metal collected is now observable at TMK Chermet’s sites in Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk, Rostov, Volgograd, and Saratov Regions,’ the press service says.

‘The first quarter of the year was not a typical one for the Russian market and this time of the year in that there was a great increase in the amount of scrap ferrous metal collected. This meant we had more stuffs at TMK Chermet’s scrap-processing sites and exceeded our target supply figures. The company intends to keep supplying more scrap metal to TMK plants throughout the rest of the year,’ says TMK Chermet CFO Jan Starchenko.
