MMK, AvtoVAZ to Work Together

20.03.2017
UrBC, Magnitogorsk, Chelyabinsk Region, March 20, 2017. A group of AvtoVAZ delegates, chaired by CEO Nicolas Moore, paid a visit to Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK).

The visitors went to MMK oxygen converter shop and Sheet-Rolling Department 11 with its brand new cold-roll unit meant for making high quality automobile body sheets. Delegates from MMK’s largest car manufacturing partner looked at how automobile body sheets are made, including those for AvtoVAZ’s latest makes Lada Vesta and Lada X-Ray. For these makes, MMK has been supplying AvtoVAZ with pilot and production batches of cold-rolled and galvanized sheets made of low-carbon and extra-low-carbon IF steels, highly durable IF steels, and BH and HSLA steels since 2015.

Once it started making new goods at its cold-roll unit at Sheet-Rolling Department 11, MMK can offer a much wider range of good quality rolled products to the carmakers.

‘The launch of this new unit has meant we can confidently compete with Russian and foreign metal goods manufacturers; MMK is currently the leading Russian metal goods supplier for the automobile industry,’ the company says.
