Ural Vagon Zavod to Make Nuclear Units

24.01.2017
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, January 24, 2017. Ural Vagon Zavod Corporation’s Omsktransmash was recently issued the Federal Service for Environmental, Technological, and Nuclear Oversight’s license allowing it to design and make equipment for nuclear units, radiation sources, nuclear materials and radioactive substances storage facilities, and radioactive waste storage sites.

The company press service reports the new license opens new cooperation opportunities for the plant and the Russian nuclear enterprises.

‘In order to run a full nuclear equipment production cycle, the plant gave major upgrades and overhauls to a number of its production departments, including those where carbonitriding, chemical nickel plating, and ultrasonic testing of welded seams occurs. Also, in order to meet the Federal Service for Environmental, Technological, and Nuclear Oversight’s requirements, we got our technologies, workers, and equipment re-certified. All this means we won’t need to outsource any of our technological preparation or part-manufacturing processes and will be able to ensure multi-level quality control at every production stage ourselves,’ the press service quotes the plant’s Senior Metallurgist Pavel Mikhaylov as saying.
