EVRAZ KGOK to Replace 8km of Railroads

27.09.2016
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, September 27, 2016. EVRAZ Holding’s Kachkanar Ore Mining & Processing Enterprise (EVRAZ KGOK) is now completing the seasonal repairs of railroad conduits: this year’s plan is to replace some 8km of railroads and about twenty turnout switches, the holding’s press office reports.

The repairs and replacements are being worked on by the company rail vehicle depot. For one, new rails have been installed and drainage points cleaned at the Main Quarry premises. The same will be done at the processing and agglomeration plants by the end of October.

‘Six different kinds of equipment are used to do the repairs. The liner-tamper-surfacer is probably the most productive of them: the machine can press the amount of chips sufficient to make 3,000 rail ties in just one hour. This year, 8m RUR have been spent to upgrade it, that is, install vibration-proof seats and inter-phone systems for operators, get the engine and the utility sections repaired, and introduce outer lighting for poor visibility days,’ the press service says.

EVRAZ KGOK currently operates over 200km of railroads.
