MegaFon to Become ISP for Chelyabinsk Power Station

19.02.2016
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, February 19, 2016. The telecommunications provider MegaFon is now working with Chelyabinsk Power Station to provide landline connection for 700 separate phone numbers and to create encrypted data transfer channels and digital telemetric data transfer channels in the near future, MegaFon Ural’s press service says.

The company Fortum launched natural gas-fueled Power Generating Unit 1 at Chelyabinsk Power Station in December 2015 as part of their investment program. The plan is to build eight new gas-fueled units and to upgrade existing equipment. This project is of unique complexity and is expected to result in a production facility with the most fuel- and energy-efficient technologies available today to meet the Ural economy’s growing electric power needs.

The station’s new power generating unit will be connected to the company intranet, as will be all the other power facilities Fortum operates; these are located both in and outside of Chelyabinsk Region, namely, in Tyumen, Nyagan, Tobolsk, Surgut, and Moscow. The encrypted virtual private network will ensure secure exchange of any confidential data, giving the employees an opportunity to make conference and videoconference calls when thousands of kilometers apart, and to find all the documents they need in the company database within seconds.
