Mayor of Nizhniy Tagil meets Ural Vagon Zavod’s trade union activists

27.01.2016
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, January 27, 2016. Mayor of Nizhniy Tagil Sergei Nosov met Ural Vagon Zavod Corporation’s trade union activists to look at last year’s achievements and this year’s plans and to answer the workers’ questions.

The company press service reports the mayor pointed to reconstruction of the city’s D.N. Mamin-Sibiryak Drama Theater, the construction of Presidentsky Sports Palace, the renovation of the Tagil Lagoon Embankment, the repairs of a bridge in Frunze St, and new housing projects as the previous year’s major events. These projects kept on going despite inadequate funding. This year’s goal is to keep up with this growth rate.

Workers were interested in the construction of natural gas supply network in various parts of Nizhniy Tagil, public transport issues, road repairs, agriculture, and other vital topics. The mayor also told them about the city’s Well-Lit City Project, with street lighting introduced in many streets, including Sverdlov St in Dzerzhinsky District.

Sergei Nosov said worker teams were the city’s strongest asset.

‘It is essential that I get to hear about things that matter to you. Ural Vagon Zavod currently has plenty of customer orders, the ones for the defense sector primarily. As for orders for railcars, it will take some time for the President’s decision to support the company to start taking effect. We have been through a number of crises already, and we know how to act. We’ll handle everything.’
