Fewer foreign stars bring shows to Yekaterinburg

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, September 28, 2015. The inflow of foreign stars who bring their shows to Yekaterinburg is down due to the financial and economic crisis in the country, Teleclub and Dom Pechati producer Semyon Galperin told UrBC in an interview.

According to Galperin, the performers' fees went up in proportion to the growing dollar and euro exchange rate, which was to be expected. A $10,000 show used to cost 300,000 RUR before but costs as much as 700,000 RUR now.

'Hardly anyone can cope with such price increases; as a result, the demand for foreign stars' shows has been dropping. There are no more super-attractive proposals on the Russian market for them any more. In fact, performers from the West used to make more money in Russia than in Europe. Things grew worse both for them and, of course, for us. Sting came to Yekaterinburg in 2013, for instance, but we are not likely to see a performance by someone as big as him any time soon,' he said.

Galperin pointed out that Russian singers have a clearer picture of the Russian market and therefore understand how much money they can make from a concert.
