Yekaterinburg to test Uraltransmashs two new trams

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, September 21, 2015. Sverdlovsk Region Prime Minister Denis Pasler and Head of Yekaterinburg Council Alexander Yakob met to consider buying new tramways for the citys public transport system.

The city council reports the meeting was held on the premises of Uraltransmash, a tram manufacturer. The plants employees presented their modern trams and recent developments to the two officials.

Tram 407, one of those presented at the meeting, is a tramway with a low-floor section in the middle. The section makes up 39% of the floor area. The tram is fit for 190 people, with 27 seats. The vehicles maximum speed comes to 75 kph. This new make has improved noise insulation, special spaces for wheelchairs, and a ramp in the central doors for people with disabilities and parents with baby prams.

The workers said the tram only needed its first overhaul after 500,000km and had a twenty years working life.

The exterior design was developed specially for Yekaterinburg. Besides, customers can choose all the options and decide on the colors (including those of the seats) beforehand.
