Trial of Yekaterinburg Meatpacking Plant’s Director’s alleged murderer begins in Sverdlovsk Region Court

October 30, 2014. The trial of Stanislav Silkin, who is accused of taking part in the murder of Director of Yekaterinburg Meatpacking Plant Alexander Kuleshov, begins in Sverdlovsk Region Court on October 30, 2014.

The 43-year-old Khakasia-born Silkin is charged with aiding and abetting in a hired killing (Article 105 (Part 2) and Article 33 (Part 5) of the Russian Federation Criminal Code) and with organized, collusive illicit trafficking in firearms and ammunition (Article 222 (Part 2) of the Russian Federation Criminal Code).

‘The inquest team believe the accused was an accomplice in the hired killing of businessman Alexander Kuleshov in November 2002. They also believe the killing was organized by order of Igor Yurlov, a former agent of Pavel Fedulev,’ the court’s press service says.

Acting on behalf of Yurlov, the accused asked a certain person to find those who would kill the victim for $20,000. It was also suggested that a Kalashnikov and the ammunition for it that Silkin had been given earlier should be used for committing the crime.

In the end, this request of the accused, who was acting on behalf of the organizer of the killing, was fulfilled: people were found to kill the Director of Yekaterinburg Meatpacking Plant next to one of the apartment buildings in Bardin St in Yekaterinburg on November 5, 2002.
