Uralvagonzavod Corporation’s head plant gets Messer Enviro Tec exhaust device

18.06.2014
June 18, 2014. A filtering exhaust device made by the Czech company Messer Enviro Tec is now being installed at Thermal Department 3 of Uralvagonzavod Corporation’s head plant. The capacity of the device is estimated at 20,000 m3 an hour. According to the corporation’s press service, another device is now being prepared for assembly and will be launched before the end of the year.

The department uses German fume-cutting machines to make spare parts for railway carriages and special vehicles; these machines can cut alloyed steels and special steels. One side effect of fume-cutting is harmful emissions in the process: now these will be trapped by the filtering devices.

‘The filtering device contains a number of filters of varying strength. All the discharge trapped in the filter gets collected in two bunkers, one for larger particles and one for the smaller ones. The harmful substances are recycled once a week when the filter is cleaned. The department is already familiar with this system: a similar unit has been used there since 2012. The launch of two more up-to-date filtering devices will completely eliminate any emission of harmful substances from the fume-cutting machines in the air,’ the corporation reports.
