Reporters take part in a test drive of ChTZ-Uraltrac vehicles

28.05.2014
May 28, 2014. A group of reporters from Mayak radio station who are currently working on their Big Test Drive Project on YouTube tried out the vehicles made at Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant (ChTZ, a member enterprise of Uralvagonzavod).

According to the corporation’s press service, the reporters were professionally interested in the T-34 and IS-3 tanks that were made at ChTZ as well as in the world’s largest (as the Guinness Book of Records would have it) tractor, the T-800.

‘Rustam Vakhidov and Sergey Stillavin traded their mikes in for cameras and came up with three clips. They spoke very vividly about how some of the world’s most famous armored vehicles were created and asked the drivers from ChTZ Testing Center Nikolai Yefimov and Ivan Ryndych quite a few questions. The two men are in charge of operating and maintaining the machines the clips were dedicated to. The story of the T-800 tank was just as detailed. This is a legendary machine whose history reflects the history of the entire country. This iron giant took part in plenty of interesting stories, and very many enterprises from adjacent industrial sectors concentrated their efforts on the creation of this tank. Alexander Chalykh is probably the best person to talk to about this, as he tested all these enormous (as big as a three-storey building) machines,’ the company says.

The clip on the T-34 tank is already available on the Internet; the other clips dedicated to the plant will soon reach their viewers as well. Big Test Drive is quite popular on YouTube among the Internet users, especially among the young ones. The project has over 320,000 subscribers and gets some 3,000,000 hits a month.

‘This is happening thanks not only due to the ‘IRL effect’ of a TV reality show but also due to the fact that the masterminds behind Big Test Drive decided to focus on the new cinematography, Russia 2 TV Channel’s website states. The new programs are deeply personal, the presenters are trying to give the audience a holistic picture of a machine and its creator, they are living emotionally through all the events of the past and the present. Rustam Vakhidov, who drove the T-34 around the plant’s premises, was overtaken with tears of emotion and thanked his grandfather for the Victory in the Great Patriotic War,’ the press service says.
