19.02.2014
February 19, 2014. An exhibition of state-of-the-art hand-made dolls and tapestries is opened at Uralvagonzavod Exhibition Center for the first time. The exhibition area features works by the best artists from Nizhniy Tagil, Yekaterinburg, and Moscow. The exhibition is coordinated within the framework of the head plant museum’s cultural and educational projects, the corporation’s press service reports.

‘Among the exhibits are realistically-looking, pastiche, and primitive dolls, art dolls, and conceptual dolls by artists who employ different techniques and materials: plush, textiles, ladoll, ceramics, paper clay, glazed earthenware, papier-mache, and some very unorthodox materials like rugs and mops. 18 artists of the most fairy tale-like and fascinating art took part in the exhibition. Some 50 exhibits were presented,’ the message says.

During the opening ceremony, three artists presented their work: doll master and member of the Union of Russian Artists, member of the Ural Association of Doll Artists and participant of local, national, and international exhibitions Svetlana Ryazanova; extracurricular activities teacher from Arts & Crafts Club of Nizhniy Tagil Lyudmila Nosareva, and an amateur artist Olga Sorokina.

Svetlana Ryazanova’s papier-mache Domino doll was one of the cult exhibits at the show. The doll was made specially for the annual international Dabida day contest that was held by the German-Belgian Doll Institute. The exhibit competed in the category called Rhythm.
