TMK-INOX launches slitting line

16.01.2014
January 16, 2014. A slitting line was recently commissioned at TMK-INOX, a JV run by ROSNANO and Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK) on their premises in Kamensk-Uralsky. This launch is part of the strategic program for the reconstruction of stainless pipes production, TMK’s press service reports.

The machinery was supplied by the Swiss company SYTCO. The new slitting line is meant for length-cutting of metal rolls weighing up to 30,000 kg that are up to 1,600 mm wide and 0.4 to 6.0 mm thick. The unit was produced in accordance with the EU standards and ensures a great speed of cutting: up to 200 meters a minute.

With this new machinery, TMK-INOX can now produce 8,000,000 kilos of stainless pipes with the diameter of 8 to 114 mm a year for the car making industry, the food manufacturing sector, the energy sector, and the building industry. This produce is fully comparable with the best counterparts from all over the world and meets both foreign and Russian standards.

‘The recently installed slitting line will mean we can fully provide our arc-welded pipe facilities in Kamensk-Uralsky and Moscow with the ingots they need,’ says TMK-INOX Director-General Leonid Marchenko.
