19.12.2013
December 19, 2013. In 2013, Sverdlovsk Region’s position in the living standards rating for Russian Federation constituencies became worse, dropping down from the 10th to the 11th position. The population’s income declined last year, housing conditions deteriorated, as did the environmental and the demographic situations. At the same time, the safety of neighborhoods and the economic development improve a little, says research on the living standards in the federal constituencies compiled by RIA Rating.

The quality of Sverdlovsk Region residents’ life went down on the whole: a year ago, the constituency came 10th in the rating, and now it is in the 11th place. Insufficient personal income is the primary reason for this: 9% of the local population make less than the minimum living wage. In terms of housing conditions, the position in the rating shifted from the 25th down to the 29th. The communal housing infrastructure is 59% worn out, and 0.4% of the locals live in the dwellings that are in critical condition.

Sverdlovsk Region came 62nd in such criteria as the environmental and the climatic conditions, which was 3 positions lower than a year earlier. The demographic situation also grew slightly worse: the constituency went down from the 14th to the 16th position. The natural population increase index was 0.4 per 1,000 people, the immigration increase was 7,900 people. In terms of area development and transport infrastructure, Sverdlovsk Region was 37th (against the 36th position a year earlier).
