Uralvagonzavod supplies over 250 upgraded T-72B3 tanks to the Russian Army

Over 250 upgraded T-72B3 tanks have been delivered to the Armed Forces of Western and Eastern Military Districts, and 20 more tanks will be delivered before the end of the year, Interfax –AVN refers to Russian Defense Ministry Press Service Representative for Ground Forces Major Kirill Kiselev as saying, Uralvagonzavod Corporation’s press officer reports.

‘Some of the new vehicles have already been put in operation and assigned to certain crews. Prior to the start of the operation, the tank divisions teams were retrained to operate the new types of vehicles at Omsk division of the Logistical Support Academy,’ Kiselev said.

T-72B3, a variation of the T-72 tank, is undergoing radical upgrades within the framework of Nizhniy Tagil-based Uralvagonzavod’s government defense contract. The upgraded tank is fitted with the last-generation telecommunication devices, the newest fire control system, and a digital ballistic computer that allows to cut down on the time needed for calculation and to make these calculations more precise. The thermal imaging channel for the primary sight ensures the reliability of guiding mechanisms in any weather, regardless of the time of the day. Besides, the crew can now shoot with a controlled projectile not only from the stationary position but also on the go.
