Asmoto to break ties with Chrysler Group

20 January 2011 (09:00)

OOO Asmoto will no longer be selling luxury cars and is switching to the less expensive KIA, the car show’s managers told UrBC.

The company used to deal in selling Chrysler, Jeep, Daewoo, and Dodge makes before.

‘We are now gradually switching to KIA; it’s more of a ‘people’s car’ and it’s closer to the customers, the managers said.

The reason behind this decision is the supply problems.

‘If we had the cars, as well as promotion and advertising, we would keep on selling these makes; the demand would be much greater then,’ it was said, even though it was admitted the supply was not the company’s only problem.

Asmoto reports the year 2010 was not the most productive one in terms of sales volumes. As it happens, Jeep makes sold best last year.

Now according to the European Business Association, Jeep’s Russian sales went up 94% in 2010 compared with 2009, while the sales of Chrysler and Dodge dropped by 48% and 38%, respectively. KIA automobiles are now the 13th and the 14th best-selling car makes out of the twenty-five models in the rating.
