Prosecution authorities take legal action to protect Uralelectrotyazhmash

7 September 2010 (11:05)

Sverdlovsk Region’s public prosecutions department instituted criminal proceedings against a fraudster who is suspected of doing damage to OAO Uralelectrotyazhmash Scientific Research, Design, and Technological Institute (OAO NII UETM). The prosecutions department claims the company had its legal papers containing data on the company’s General Director and its address edited by a third party in May 2010.

It is alleged that the suspect, who bears no relation to the institute whatsoever, applied to a tax department asking to make some changes in the company’s data and provided a full set of legal papers regarding NII UETM. Upon his request, the name of the GD and the address of the institute were edited in the department’s register. The institute thus was ‘relocated’ to another Russian region. When the institute’s actual General Director found this out, he placed a claim on fraud against the company with the local internal affairs department.
