Sverdlovsk Region to get over 14bn

Under the recently signed septilateral agreement, Sverdlovsk Region is going to get more than 14 billion RUR worth of investments, the region’s Governor Alexander Misharin announced at the close of the Russian-German Energy Forum on July 15, 2010.

In the course of the forum itself, the top executives of UMMC Holding and Siemens AG made detailed reports on their companies’ current and future projects. UMMC Holding’s General Director Andrei Kositsin said, for instance, that his company was planning to put up two coal stations. One of them, Demidovskaya thermal power plant, will be located in Sverdlovsk Region, the other one, Slavinskaya thermal power plant with the capacity of 500 mW, will be situated next to the coal deposits in Kuzbass, Kemerov Region.

At the end of the Russian-German Energy Forum, an agreement on cooperation in the field of energy efficiency and energy saving promotion was signed by Sverdlovsk Region Government, the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Ural branch, ZAO Kompleksniye Energeticheskiye Sistemy, OAO RENOVA-StroyGroup-Akademicheskoye, OOO Rudea, Dena (the German Energy Agency), and Siemens AG. Governor of Sverdlovsk Region Alexander Misharin signed the agreement on behalf of Sverdlovsk Region Government.

What is more, OOO UMMC Holding and Rudea agreed on a contract that provides for UMMC enterprises’ upgrades and for joint investment projects. BASF and Renova-StroyGroup came to a business agreement as well. In addition, the Russian Federation Energy Ministry, OAO Gazprombank, and Dena signed a memorandum of understanding, while the Russian Energy Minister Sergey Shmatko and the Federal Minister of Economics and Technology of Germany Reiner Brüderle signed a declaration of cooperation in the field of energy saving.

In the meantime, the 10th St. Petersburg Dialogue (a Russian-German forum) has been unfolding in Yekaterinburg for the third day now.
