Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) and ZAO ChTPZ Group held a meeting on MMK’s premises to look into the results of their performance in 2009 and to discuss their future cooperation.
ChTPZ Group’s representatives demonstrated Chelyabinsk Tube-Rolling Plant’s electric welding unit for pipes (currently under construction). The future unit, called Vysota-239, is one of Chelyabinsk Region’s largest investment projects worth 21 billion RUR. The steel plates produced at MMK’s Mill 5000 are expected to be the main source of raw materials for Chelyabinsk Tube-Rolling Plant’s new production facility.
The meeting participants also spoke about the quality of MMK’s strip material and the terms of its delivery to Chelyabinsk Tube-Rolling Plant. Besides, they looked into the logistics and financial issues and discussed the DNV certification routine for underwater pipes.
According to MMK’s acting Chief Engineer Sergey Laskov, the certification procedure is a long and complicated one, but, thanks to the company’s efforts, it is nearly complete now.
ChTPZ Group’s officials also had a chance to take a look at MMK’s Mill 5000 and to see it in action.
‘MMK is ChTPZ Group’s strategic partner in the field of thick plate supplies, so we hold such meetings on a regular basis. This time, we couldn’t help noticing the great qualitative changes achieved through the new Mill 5000,’ says ChTPZ Group’s Strategic Interaction Director Alexander Golodyagin.
Both companies agreed to meet next time after Vysota-239 has been launched at Chelyabinsk Tube-Rolling Plant this July, MMK PR Department reports.
