5 February 2010 (10:08)

The Russian Federation Ministry for Industry and Trade came up with the list of car makes that are liable to recycling under the new stimulus program. The program is expected to boost the sales of new cars through recycling the old ones. Every Russian citizen who recycles an automobile which is over ten years old is given a 50,000-ruble discount by a dealer in case he or she buys a car produced in Russia (and this has to be one of the cars on the list in question).

The Russian Federation Government allocated over 11 billion RUR for the program implementation. The program is to be launched on March 1, 2010.

Among the participating companies are AvtoVAZ, OAO UAZ, OOO Avtozavod GAZ, OAO Izhavto, OOO TagAZ, OOO Sollers Far East, OOO Severstalavto-KAMA, OAO Sollers Naberezhniye Chelny, OOO Nissan Manufacturing Rus, OOO Toyota Motor Manufacturing Russia, OOO Volkswagen Group Rus, ZAO SSA-Isuzu, ZAO GM AvtoVAZ, OOO General Motors Auto, OOO Sollers Yelabuga, ZAO Ford Motor Company, and OAO Avtoframos.

Among the cars not on the program are the ones produced by ZAO Avtotor, including Hummer H3, Hummer H2, Chevrolet Trailblaser, Chevrolet Tahoe, Cadillac STS, Cadillac BLS, Cadillac SRX, and Cadillac Escalade, RIA Novosti reports.
