7 December 2009 (12:32)

The employees of Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) offered to donate blood for the victims of a major fire accident in Perm-based Lame Horse Club.

The municipal health authorities and MMK also declared that they were ready to send their combustion experts to Perm if this should be necessary.

The fire broke out in Lame Horse Club in Kuibyshev St at about 1 AM last Saturday when the club was holding its 8th-year anniversary party. Out of the 500-square-meter building, 400 sq m burned down to ashes. According to the preliminarily available data, some fireworks exploded during a performance and caused the fire.

About 120 people with burn injuries of varying seriousness were transported from Perm to Moscow, Saint Petersburg, and Chelyabinsk. MMK is now prepared to organize a blood donation session in Magnitogorsk if necessary. The company workers and regular donors can come to MMK health division and the local blood bank to help the victims.

The local hospital workers say they are touched by the metallurgical enterprise’s employees’ active response. In fact, MMK employees have been coming to the blood bank in numerous groups and brigades to donate their blood. In case of necessity, MMK health division is ready to set up additional blood-donation units, MMK PR Department reports.
