Governor Rossel calls for airport’s filling station makeover

‘It would actually be a good idea to put up a similar depot in the north of Sverdlovsk Region (say, in Verkhoturye), since traffic will start moving in from Khanty-Mansiyskiy Autonomous Region as soon as this winter,’ Governor of Sverdlovsk Region Eduard Rossel said at the opening ceremony of LUKOIL’s new bulk plant in Yekaterinburg.

‘Then, the filling station at Koltsovo Airport of Yekaterinburg needs to be fully upgraded, especially as the airport is trying to develop despite the current economic hardships,’ the Governor added.

The Governor first spoke about his plan to solve the problem of the airport’s overpriced jet fuel with the help of LUKOIL’s rival filling station last year. The oil company did not officially admit that they were interested in the project. Nor did LUKOIL’s President Vagit Alekperov say anything about this project in the course of the ceremony.

When asked by reporters about the feasibility of the project, LUKOIL-Permnefterprodukt’s Sverdlovsk Region division Deputy Director Alexander Kostitsin replied the matter was to be settled by LUKOIL-Aero.

Meanwhile, Koltsovo Airport raised its jet fuel prices by 6.7% in September, so the price of 1,000 liters now comes to 18,980 RUR. The airport explained they had to do this due to their supplier’s soaring prices.
