Governor congratulates MMK on Mill 500 launch

28 July 2009 (08:53)

Governor of Chelyabinsk Region Petr Sumin congratulated Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) workers and management on the recent launch of their unique plate Mill 5000 in the letter he sent to MMK BOD Chairman Viktor Rashnikov.

‘I am sincerely grateful to you and all of the enterprise’s numerous workers for the great and victorious launch of the unique Mill 5000. This is a long hoped-for, memorable, and crucial event for Chelyabinsk Region, the Russian metallurgical industry, and the entire country. This moment is made even greater by coming up at these hard times when many good projects have to be put off and workers are losing their enthusiasm and faith in themselves. MMK is bringing this faith back to people and inspiring them to upgrade the South Urals industry on a large scale.

MMK has always been one of the Russian industry’s flagships, capable of things other businesses couldn’t do. Mill 5000 required both massive financing and enormous human effort, a lot of creativity, great professional skills, and smooth coordination.

Thank you Mr. Rashnikov for the flawless organization of Head of Russian Federation Government Vladimir Putin’s visit. This was another proof of MMK’s state-wide, long-term, strategic thinking and great plans for the good of the country.

I wish you and the entire MMK team new victories and achievements, happiness, and wellbeing, while the new mill reaches its full capacity,’ the letter says.
