Mill 5000’s produce to enjoy enormous demand, Governor Sumin says

27 July 2009 (10:20)

Governor of Chelyabinsk Region Petr Sumin said during a recent meeting with his deputies and the regional ministers that the launch of Mill 5000 at Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) was the absolute highlight of the week as well as of the year, the spokesperson for the Governor reports.

‘Head of Russian Federation Government Vladimir Putin spoke very highly of this project,’ the Governor observed.

Sumin explained that his talks with the metallurgical enterprise’s representatives and their key customers made it clear that the new hot-rolled plate iron would enjoy enormous demand. The goods manufactured with the help of Mill 5000 will be used for making highly durable gas pipelines. This is why the Governor feels it would be good for the regional Chelyabinsk Tube Rolling Plant to speed up their tube-welding mill construction. For the time being, however, the pipes made of MMK’s plate iron are to be welded by some other enterprises.

According to the spokesperson for the Governor, Petr Sumin was pleased to see that the Russian Federation Government encouraged the country’s oil and gas enterprises to buy from local machine-builders and metallurgical enterprises.

In addition to the O&G industry, MMK’s new produce will certainly be welcomed by the ship-building companies.
