Viktor Koksharov asks for Austrian consulate in Yekaterinburg

The Head of Sverdlovsk Region Government Viktor Koksharov spoke to the Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria Ursula Plassnik about the feasibility of setting up Austria’s Consulate General in the mid-Urals during his recent visit to Austria.

Koksharov explained that the introduction of a foreign country’s official representation normally boosted the trade end economic relations’ development and greatly supported the two countries’ cooperation of all kinds. He said there were currently fifteen countries’ representations in Sverdlovsk Region. These are the British, Chinese, Czech, French, German, Hungarian, Kyrgyz, Tajik, U.S., and Vietnamese Consulates General, the Bulgarian Consulate, Byelorussian Embassy’s division, Hungary and Denmark’s trade missions, and Ukraine’s trade and economic mission’s office.

The honorary councils of Austria, Armenia, Congo, Korea, and Hungary have been accredited in the Mid-Urals. Besides, the official representations of some foreign countries that do not enjoy the diplomatic status can be found in Yekaterinburg as well.

Ursula Plassnik assured the Russian official that she would look into the application documents very carefully and very soon.
