Authorities Accuse Serov Ferrous Alloys Works of Soil Contamination

Sverdlovsk Region Arbitration Court is to consider the claim laid by Rosprirodnadzor’s division in Ural Federal District against Serov Ferrous Alloys Works on February 17, 2012. The plaintiff wants the defendant to pay 18.32m RUR. UC RUSAL to Recycle Alumina Waste in Kamensk-Uralsky

United Company RUSAL reports they are testing out the new technology aimed at recycling alumina production waste, that is, red mud. Once the testing has been completed, a pilot production unit will be designed and built at Ural smelter. The capacity of the unit will come to up to 200,000 tons of red mud a year; the launch has been scheduled for October 2014.
